Rigging Supervisor

Salary : 5500 SAR

Key Responsibilities

1. Planning and Coordination

  • Develop rigging plans: Design detailed rigging plans and procedures for lifting, moving, and positioning heavy equipment and materials. This includes selecting the correct rigging gear and lifting methods.
  • Determine equipment requirements: Identify the appropriate cranes, hoists, slings, ropes, and other rigging equipment needed for each lift.
  • Coordinate logistics: Ensure that all equipment, tools, and materials are available and in proper working order for each rigging operation.
  • Safety assessments: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure that safety protocols are in place before rigging operations begin.

2. Team Supervision and Leadership

  • Lead rigging crew: Supervise a team of riggers, crane operators, and other workers involved in the rigging process. Provide guidance, training, and direction.
  • Assign tasks: Assign specific tasks to crew members based on their skills and the complexity of the rigging operation.
  • Ensure safety compliance: Monitor the crew to ensure that safety standards and regulations are followed at all times during rigging operations.

3. Safety Management

  • Enforce safety protocols: Ensure that all rigging operations adhere to company safety policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
  • Conduct safety training: Provide safety training for rigging crew members and ensure they are familiar with proper rigging techniques, equipment usage, and emergency procedures.
  • Conduct safety checks: Inspect rigging equipment (e.g., slings, hooks, cranes) to ensure it is in good working condition and meets safety standards.
  • Monitor safe practices: Continuously observe the worksite to ensure the rigging crew follows proper safety procedures, including using personal protective equipment (PPE).

4. Inspection and Maintenance

  • Inspect equipment: Regularly inspect rigging gear, such as slings, shackles, and lifting devices, to ensure they are in safe, operational condition.
  • Maintain equipment: Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs for rigging equipment to avoid breakdowns or accidents.
  • Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs performed on rigging equipment.

5. Communication

  • Liaise with other departments: Coordinate with project managers, engineers, safety officers, and other supervisors to ensure smooth and safe rigging operations.
  • Communicate with crane operators: Work closely with crane operators to ensure proper communication during lifts, using hand signals or radios to provide clear instructions.
  • Report incidents: Immediately report any incidents, accidents, or safety violations to upper management and ensure proper investigations are conducted.

6. Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

  • Address challenges: Handle any issues that arise during rigging operations, including equipment malfunctions, environmental factors (weather, ground conditions), or unexpected changes in the plan.
  • Adapt to changes: Adjust rigging plans as needed based on changing site conditions or new requirements.
  • Emergency response: In the event of an accident or emergency, take swift action to mitigate risks, provide first aid if needed, and ensure proper reporting and investigation.

7. Compliance with Regulations

  • Ensure legal compliance: Ensure that all rigging operations are in full compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations (e.g., OSHA regulations in the U.S.).
  • Maintain certifications: Ensure that all rigging equipment and personnel have the appropriate certifications and qualifications required for operation.

8. Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain documentation: Keep accurate records of rigging operations, including lifting plans, equipment used, inspections, and safety checks.
  • Prepare reports: Provide regular reports to project managers or upper management detailing rigging operations, progress, and any issues encountered.

9. Cost and Resource Management

  • Monitor resource usage: Ensure that rigging operations are carried out efficiently and cost-effectively, making sure that resources like equipment and manpower are optimized.
  • Budget adherence: Monitor rigging costs and work within the project’s budget, ensuring that tasks are completed on time and within financial constraints.

10. Training and Development

  • Provide ongoing training: Continuously train rigging crew members on new rigging techniques, equipment, safety practices, and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate crew performance: Assess the performance of rigging personnel and provide feedback to improve efficiency, safety, and productivity.
