Responsibilities :
1. Installation of HVAC Systems
- Install new systems: Set up HVAC equipment, including heating units, air conditioning systems, ventilation systems, ductwork, and thermostats.
- System design and layout: Plan the layout of HVAC systems to ensure they meet the heating and cooling needs of a space.
- Ensure proper connections: Connect HVAC systems to electrical and fuel lines, ensuring everything is wired and connected according to safety standards.
2. Maintenance of HVAC Systems
- Routine inspections: Conduct regular maintenance checks on HVAC systems, including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting ductwork, and ensuring proper airflow.
- Lubrication and cleaning: Clean components like coils, fans, and blowers, and lubricate moving parts to reduce wear and tear.
- Filter replacement: Replace or clean air filters to maintain good air quality and system efficiency.
3. Repair and Troubleshooting
- Diagnose system issues: Identify and troubleshoot problems with HVAC systems, such as poor airflow, inconsistent temperatures, or system malfunctions.
- Repair faulty systems: Replace or repair broken parts, such as motors, compressors, thermostats, and heat exchangers, to restore system functionality.
- Troubleshoot refrigerant leaks: Identify and repair refrigerant leaks and recharge the system with the appropriate amount of refrigerant.
4. System Calibration
- Test system performance: After installation or repair, ensure the system is running at peak efficiency by calibrating the thermostat and checking temperature and humidity levels.
- Adjust airflow: Fine-tune system components to ensure proper airflow and optimal heating or cooling.
5. Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
- Electrical system diagnostics: Check electrical components, including wiring, fuses, and circuit boards, to ensure proper functioning of the HVAC system.
- Detect and resolve issues: Quickly identify and resolve system failures such as overheating, electrical malfunctions, or refrigerant leaks.
6. Energy Efficiency and Optimization
- Promote energy efficiency: Advise clients on how to use their HVAC systems more efficiently to lower energy costs and reduce environmental impact.
- Recommend system upgrades: Suggest improvements, such as upgrading to energy-efficient units or adding zoning systems, to enhance HVAC performance and reduce energy consumption.
7. Customer Support and Education
- Customer service: Provide excellent customer service by explaining HVAC issues, system functions, and maintenance tips to clients.
- Educate clients: Teach customers how to properly operate their systems, change filters, and perform basic maintenance tasks to ensure longevity.
8. Regulatory Compliance and Safety
- Follow local codes and standards: Adhere to local building codes, safety standards, and HVAC regulations during installation, maintenance, and repairs.
- Handle refrigerants safely: Ensure that refrigerants and chemicals are handled according to industry standards to prevent leaks and environmental damage.
- Workplace safety: Use safety equipment and follow protocols to avoid injury, especially when working with electrical components, heavy machinery, or hazardous chemicals.
9. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain service records: Keep detailed records of work performed, including inspections, maintenance, repairs, and any parts replaced.
- Report issues to clients: Provide clients with detailed reports on the status of their HVAC systems, including any recommendations for repairs or upgrades.
