Key Responsibilities :

1. Reading and Interpreting Blueprints and Technical Drawings

• Understand blueprints: Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to understand the specifications of the materials to be fabricated.
• Identify materials and dimensions: Determine the type of materials, measurements, and specific tolerances needed for the job based on project requirements.

2. Material Selection and Preparation

• Select appropriate materials: Choose the correct materials (metal, plastic, etc.) based on the project requirements, ensuring they meet quality standards.
• Prepare materials: Cut, bend, or shape raw materials (such as steel, aluminum, or other metals) to the specified sizes using various tools and equipment.
• Maintain material inventory: Keep track of materials and ensure there is an adequate supply for ongoing projects.

3. Cutting, Shaping, and Forming Materials

• Use cutting tools: Operate tools like saws, lasers, and shears to cut materials into the necessary shapes and sizes.
• Bending and forming: Use machines like press brakes or manual tools to bend and form materials according to design specifications.
• Welding: Perform welding tasks to join metal components together using techniques such as MIG, TIG, or stick welding.

4. Assembly of Components

• Assemble parts: Join fabricated components through welding, riveting, bolting, or other methods to form larger structures or products.
• Fit and adjust: Ensure that parts are correctly aligned and fit together according to specifications.
• Verify dimensions: Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, tape measures) to check that assembled components meet exact specifications.

5. Machine Operation

• Operate fabrication machinery: Use and maintain machines like CNC machines, welding machines, lathes, or press brakes to perform tasks such as cutting, shaping, and assembling.
• Adjust machine settings: Adjust settings on machinery to ensure accurate operation and high-quality output.
• Routine maintenance: Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on machines to ensure they are in good working condition.

6. Welding and Joining Techniques

• Perform welding: As a primary responsibility, fabricators often perform various welding techniques to join metal parts. This could involve arc welding, MIG, TIG, or other methods.
• Ensure strength and integrity: Ensure welded joints are structurally sound and meet the quality standards by using the correct techniques and inspecting welds.

7. Quality Control and Inspection

• Inspect finished products: Review completed assemblies for quality and conformity to specifications. Inspect for any defects or discrepancies.
• Test functionality: Ensure that the fabricated components work properly or meet the required functionality once assembled.
• Make adjustments: If necessary, make adjustments to the fabricated components to correct any issues with alignment, fit, or strength.
